Labneh, a thick and tangy yogurt used in Middle Eastern cuisines, pairs well with tahini and chocolatey protein powder in this high-protein shake that has 31 grams of protein. Though labneh is traditionally salted, we recommend adding just a pinch more salt to bring out the nutty flavor of the tahini.

Ingredients

Directions

Special equipment:
a shaker bottle with a blender ball
  1. Put the milk, labneh, protein powder, sweetener, tahini and salt in a shaker bottle with a blender ball and shake until smooth, about 1 minute.

Cook’s Note

For a plant-based shake, choose nut or oat milk and substitute chocolate pea protein powder for the protein powder. While there isn’t a plant-based version of labneh, you can strain coconut yogurt to thicken and use the same amount. (The protein total will be lower and the fat content higher using coconut yogurt.) Since pea protein powder can be grainy, we recommend blending it in a high-powdered blender or single-serving blender for a smoother texture. To make it fully vegan, also make sure to use a vegan sweetener, such as agave, maple syrup or vegan honey.
