The base of this cocktail is mead (also called honey wine), a medieval drink that's making a comeback. The addition of tangy pomegranate and a bracing shot of gin turn it into a deeply flavored cocktail that would be right at home in the world of House of the Dragon. Mix up a batch to share with friends at your next watch party!

Ingredients

Simple Syrup:

Directions

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the pomegranate juice, gin, mead and Simple Syrup. Shake vigorously until well chilled and strain into a short cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange wheel and thyme sprig.

Simple Syrup:

Yield: about 3/4 cup
  1. Combine the sugar and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan and set over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sugar has dissolved, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow to cool completely. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.

Cook’s Note

You can find mead sold alongside beer and cider at liquor stores and online.
