Harold Dieterle's Italian-American upbringing initially inspired him to be a chef. His first kitchen memories are of learning to prepare traditional Sicilian Sunday suppers from his mother while growing up on Long Island. After high school, he traveled to Spain and had the opportunity to work in some of the country's top kitchens. Upon his return to the US, he was accepted to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. Harold and his business partner Alicia Nosenzo own and operate three pillars of the West Village restaurant scene: Perilla, a critically acclaimed New American restaurant; Kin Shop, devoted to contemporary Thai cuisine and inspired by Harold's frequent trips to Thailand; and The Marrow, opened in 2012 and focused on contemporary German and Italian fare inspired by Harold's heritage. Harold is the inaugural winner of Bravo's Top Chef series.
