Cuisinart Celebrates Its Food Processor’s 50th Anniversary With a Vintage Throwback Model
This isn’t your grandparents’ Cuisinart... or is it?

These days, the appliances in your kitchen are more than likely to come in a stainless-steel finish or make a bolder statement with a pop of eye-catching color. So you might be surprised to learn that Cuisinart’s latest food processor is boxy and beige. If that seems like a throwback, that’s the whole point. Cuisinart is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its original food processor with a tribute edition that looks just like, well, its original food processor.
If you were around in the 1970s, there's a better-than-average chance the kitchen in your home was filled with the dark walnut woods, rusty orange accents, smoke-tinted glass and avocado green appliances en vogue during that time period. Considering that aesthetic, perhaps a bit beige might have stood out on your colorfully cluttered countertop. What would also have stood out is if that beige appliance was a Cuisinart Food Processor, first introduced to American consumers in 1973 and causing the Cuisinart name to become nearly synonymous with food processors.
Now, the brand is giving today’s nostalgia-loving home cooks the chance to own an old-school homage to its iconic product. The faux-vintage 50th Anniversary Edition food processor features a 14-cup, golden smoke-tinted plastic bowl and extra-large feed tube, plus two paddle-style controls and a throwback Cuisinart logo in cursive lettering. Inside that classic-looking exterior you’ll find a 750-watt motor to power its three included stainless-steel blades for slicing, shredding and mixing dough. Also included among the usual accessories are a spatula and a recipe and instruction booklet.
“We are proud to launch this limited-edition food processor in celebration of 50 years,” Christine Kapp, Director of Media and Insights at Cuisinart, says in the announcement. “Cuisinart’s food processor revolutionized the way home chefs were able to create in their kitchens, and we hope this limited edition of our most popular, iconic machine will continue to inspire self-expression through food made at home.”
The Cuisinart 50th Anniversary Edition food processor is available exclusively at Cuisinart.com and Williams-Sonoma.com for $299.95. That partnership also dates back 50 years, as Williams-Sonoma founder Chuck Williams carried the first Cuisinart food processors ever sold in America.
