Your favorite childhood snack just got a grown-up glow-up. Crispy smashed tater tots become the ultimate party bite when topped with sharp cheddar and a dollop of sweet-savory onion jam. They’re simple to make, endlessly snackable and guaranteed to disappear fast — so you might want to make a double batch.
NEW: You can now switch to Cook Mode to keep your screen awake.
Directions
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Arrange the tater tots on the prepared baking sheet. Bake until they’re soft and start to brown, about 12 minutes. Gently smash each tot to flatten into disks using the bottom of a glass. Return to the oven and bake until golden brown and crisp, 15 to 20 minutes more; let cool 5 minutes.
Top each tot with a slice of aged cheddar and a dollop of onion jam.
