Mandarins, which are related to tangerines, always remind me of the holiday season, and citrus is at its best. In this drink, the brightness of the citrus is balanced and rounded out by the rich bourbon and caramelized simple syrup.

Ingredients

Muscovado Simple Syrup:

Directions

  1. Peel the skin off of 1 clementine and place into a shaker with a few mint leaves; muddle. Juice all of the clementines and add the juice to the shaker along with the bourbon, lime juice, Muscovado Simple Syrup and bitters. Add ice and cover with the lid. Shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds. Remove the lid and pour into a rocks glass filled with ice cubes. Top with some club soda, then garnish with some mint. Enjoy.

Muscovado Simple Syrup:

Yield: 1 cup
  1. Combine the muscovado sugar with 1 cup water in a small pot. Bring to a boil over high heat. Remove from the heat and let cool completely.
