I love a quick fix using minimal ingredients. When I do this, I have to choose items that pack a flavor punch. Hot pepper or jalapeño jelly is sweet and just spicy enough to give the green beans a nice kick along with a spritz of lemon. I serve this dish for holidays in spring and fall as well as for a quick side to a dinner with chicken, chops or even steak.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Blister the green beans: Heat the oil in a large pan over high heat. When the oil begins to swirl, add the green beans. Allow to blister and sear on one side, 2 to 3 minutes, then toss to blister some more. Add a pinch of salt and a grind or 2 of pepper.
  2. Finish: Add the hot pepper or jalapeño jelly and let it melt into the pan. Add a spritz of lemon. Toss and serve.
