How to Make Bobby Berk's Favorite Cocktail

Bobby Berk is a host at heart. The design expert spent eight seasons on Queer Eye making homes feel more welcoming — and he took that sentiment to the California desert, where he opened a vacation rental primed for warm memories. Now, in his new HGTV series Junk or Jackpot?, Bobby is betting big on all of the above: He’s transforming properties using funds supplied by clients’ collections — showing them how doing more with less can be so much fun.

As it turns out, Bobby has a bit of a foodie in him as well. Given all he's done to create spaces made for connection, it’s no wonder he's ready with a hosting essential: the picture-perfect cocktail.

While filming with HGTV at his Palm Desert property, Casa Tierra, Bobby shared a recipe for a crowd-pleasing drink: his favorite blood-orange ginger margarita.

How to Make Bobby's Blood-Orange Ginger Margarita

Start by lining the rim of a glass with pink salt. Bobby suggests pouring a small amount of blood-orange juice onto a plate, doing the same with the salt, and then lightly dipping the rim from the liquid into the salt with a gentle twist. Fill the glass with ice. Next, pour a cup of ice into a cocktail shaker and add 2 ounces of tequila using a steel jigger. Follow with 2 ounces of blood-orange juice and one lime squeezed directly into the shaker. Shake to combine the ingredients.

As a (very important!) finishing touch, Bobby pours ginger beer to the rim of the glass to make the drink “nice and fizzy.” Garnish with dried and candied blood orange.
