It's no secret that New York is famous for its pizza, and Brooklyn-based slice shop L'industrie is serving up some of the best slices in the country. While floppy and foldable slices are no strangers to New York streets, L'industrie's blend of five flours sets them apart with a chewy, airy crust that doesn't leave your stomach or wallet empty. Toppings include fig jam and bacon, imported Prosciutto di Parma, pesto and sausage, to name a few. But their viral, signature burrata slice is what keeps the lines out the door — and puts L'industrie at No. 1 in our ranking of the best pizzas in the country.

The lines can get long at L'industrie Pizzeria, but it's worth the wait for our No. 1 pizza.
Launched in 2017, Florence native Massimo Lavegli says he "had no idea how to make pizza." Shortly after opening, customer-turned-business-partner Nick Baglivo joined the team and helped Massimo's dream come true. Their passion for creating perfectly crisp, light dough and simple, delicious ingredients has taken them from Brooklyn's newest hole-in-the-wall to what critics are calling "the best pizza in America."
Chef Adrienne Cheatham summed up the burrata slice in the most New York way possible: "This is the kind of pizza that would make you miss your subway stop."
But why burrata? The answer lies in necessity. "We had no other ingredients that day," says Massimo, leaving them with no choice but to top their pizzas with dollops of buttery burrata cheese. "Customers saw it, customers wanted it, so we did it," Nick says. Chef Alessandra Ciuffo loved the "unexpectedly perfect" slice, while cake artist and cookbook author Yolanda Gampp called it "over-the-top flavor perfection."

And while it has become the face of the restaurant, the burrata pie isn't the only thing at L'industrie to lust after. Whole pies topped with sopressata, braised cremini mushrooms or spicy sausage and pesto are just a few of the mouthwatering menu options available to hungry patrons. If you're finally filled up on pizza, grab yourself a Calabrian chili-spiked Buffalo chicken cutlet sandwich, or cool off with a range of classic Italian desserts from gelato to tiramisu.
