When talking surf and turf, the first thing that comes to mind is probably steak and lobster, but my favorite version is crispy bacon wrapped around tender shrimp. I love everything spicy, so I put these shrimp in a sriracha marinade that gives them a nice kick and great flavor.

Poke is an all-time favorite of mine. I love visiting Hawaii and enjoying the culture and fresh fish. A classic poke recipe is never a bad idea and this time I’m taking it up a notch with some pickled serranos and cucumbers. It’s served chip-and-dip style, with fried wonton skins making for the perfect poke bite.

When I think of sweet and sour, it always brings me back to my childhood of eating classic orange chicken. So I thought, why not bake chicken wings and then fry them, and make the bomb pineapple spicy, sweet, and sour sauce? I also wanted to give an extra kick to the dish, so I topped my wings with Fresno chiles for added heat.

My aunt Morgan was a vegetarian. So when we would have a big family dinner, we’d always make a few vegetarian dishes, one of those being cauliflower steaks. It’s a delicious and tender vegetable, making it a great substitute for beef steaks.

When I think of game day foods, cheeseburgers always cross my mind. In my family we always prepare a massive number of dishes, usually because we have tons of people over and we can’t make up our mind of what we want to eat. I love egg rolls, so I decided to take that crispy egg roll wrapper and stuff cheeseburger ingredients inside. What a money idea. What I love is that egg roll wrappers can be a vessel for so many culinary ideas. Take your favorite flavors and/or dishes and incorporate it into an egg roll skin.

Roasted Brussels sprouts are a family favorite. They carry great flavor and when cooked right, can develop a great crunchy texture. Since Brussels sprouts are naturally bitter, what better way to counterbalance the bitterness than with the sweet and sour additions of maple syrup and balsamic vinegar? I think this recipe is a fantastic opportunity to incorporate sweet and sour flavors.

In my family, tacos are acceptable in any situation, especially on game day. A classic, and one of my favorites, is carne asada. Game day is supposed to be fun and exciting, so I’m making my fries a little more exciting by topping them with carne asada. Nothing says eye-appeal like a monster plate of crispy fries with marinated skirt steak and taco toppings.
