Rival Recipes: Next Iron Chef: Redemption Finalists Face Off in Online Showdowns
Food Network pit two Next Iron Chef rivals' recipes against each other in a series of battles, and fans get to pick whose dish reigns supreme. Click the link on each slide to vote for the winner in the matchups.
Italian Dish Showdown
Iron Chefs Geoffrey Zakarian and Marc Forgione put their best Italian plates forward in a battle of Italian classics. While Chef Zakarian brought Perciatelli With Bolognese, a hearty, meaty pasta made with long noodles, Chef Forgione relied on pillowlike Gnocchi With Brown Butter and Sage from Food Network Magazine. It was a battle fit for the holiday season as Iron Chefs Bobby Flay and Michael Symon went head-to-head over the question, "Dressing or stuffing: Which side pairs better with the bird?" Chef Bobby featured a Sourdough, Wild Mushroom and Bacon Dressing made with crusty bread, while Chef Michael cooked up a Cornbread Stuffing featuring smoked ham. Vote here.
After besting Chef Love in Battle Pineapple in the first Secret Ingredient Showdown, Chef Spike Mendelsohn once again went head-to-head with this "death fruit," this time against Chef Jehangir Mehta. Chef Spike featured the juicy, golden fruit in a Fresh Fruit Salad, while Chef Jehangir did so in a textured Orange-Marcona Almond Salad With Pineapple Granita. Vote here.
Three-Way Meatball Cook-Off
Chefs Nate Appleman, Duskie Estes and Elizabeth Falkner put their twists on this traditional Italian comfort food, and the results were impressive. Chefs Nate and Elizabeth largely stuck with beefy balled preparations in their Pepperoni Meatballs and Spaghetti and Meatballs, respectively, while Chef Duskie rolled lamb to create Sicilian Lamb Meatballs.
