What do a humble piece of popcorn and a fancy diamond engagement ring have in common? Arguably not a whole lot – until now.
In yet another collaboration none of us saw coming, Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP popcorn has partnered with luxury jewelry designer Stephanie Gottlieb to bring the world what it says (and we have no reason to doubt) is the “first-ever popcorn-cut diamond” set in an engagement ring that is "perfect for popping the question.”

Released in time for an anticipated banner wedding season — with about 2.5 million weddings projected to take place this year alone — the 3.66 carat yellow diamond has been designed “exclusively for popcorn lovers,” the brands note.
With a price tag starting at $50,000, the custom-order, limited-edition diamond ring has also, clearly, been created for those with deep pockets. But hey, for the rest of us, it’s free to gape.
And really, there’s quite a bit to gape at: The Angie’s BOOOMCHICKAPOP Popcorn Diamond Ring is made from a hand-picked “perfect diamond rough” weighing in at a hefty 11 carats. Gottlieb’s team of master diamond cutters cut the stone into the “unique popcorn shape” and then polish it up and set it “in yellow gold bezel and band,” according to BOOMCHICKAPOP.
With a Y-Z stone color approaching a “fancy yellow” delineation on the GIA Color Scale, the popcorn-shaped diamond’s buttery hues further evoke the movie-night treat that has inspired it.

Audrey Ingersoll, VP/GM Sweet Treats at Conagra Brands, says the brand is “beyond excited” about its bling-forward partnership with Gottlieb, who launched her custom-designed engagement ring collection in 2013.
“The Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP brand is all about love and fun – and that’s exactly what this ring embodies,” Ingersoll said in a news release.
Gottlieb expressed similar enthusiasm. “Collaborating with Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP on this never-before-seen ring means bringing a touch of whimsy to a milestone moment in a couple’s life, and we can’t wait to be a part of that,” she said.
Those interested in popping for a sizable $50,000 popcorn-shaped yellow diamond ring — which comes in a custom-designed ring box hand-painted by mixed media artist Danielle Becker Stern, founder of Lefty’s Right Mind — can visit stephaniegottlieb.com to place their custom order starting May 17.
The rings will be made to order, available only for a limited time and priced based on the cost of the diamond at the time of purchase (that is, the price could go up). So if you want one — maybe to hide in a bucket of popcorn and propose in the midst of your favorite rom-com, or the one you and your intended saw on your first date? — it might be a good idea to pop to it and place your order pronto.
