Capri Sun Is Selling Pointy Straw-Shaped Ice Pop Molds

You would think that, as we get older, some tasks we found difficult as children would become a bit easier. But I can tell you, as the dad to two small kids, that stabbing the Capri Sun straw precisely into the little entry circle at the top of the pouch (without skewering it right through the back) isn’t one of them.
All that is to say, Capri Sun has been a childhood mainstay since its North American rollout in the early 1980s and on through to today as new generations sip (but please don’t squeeze) these juicy drinks.
This summer, however, Capri Sun has a refreshing new way to enjoy its array of flavors — using its iconic yellow straw as inspiration.

Why is Capri Sun making ice pop molds?
According to Capri Sun’s announcement, the idea for DIY ice pops came from fans of the brand who have, for years, enjoyed putting pouches into the freezer on sweltering summer days. Some have even taken to using said pouches as ice pop molds, cutting an opening at the top and slipping a wooden stick inside before freezing — and later unwrapping — the whole thing as seen in this TikTok video.
But Capri Sun’s official version swaps the pouch for a giant-sized take on that pointy yellow straw. The cylindrical silicone molds (approximately 9 inches long) have a cap on top and that familiar angled bottom. But this time, no stabbing or straining is required. To fill your Capri Sun ice pop mold, the brand suggests buying the larger multi-serving bottles of Fruit Punch or Strawberry Kiwi or Pacific Cooler (or your favorite flavor) to make pouring things a bit easier. (But any parent with kids prone to squeezing their juice boxes too hard knows you can also snip off the corner of a pouch and pour it into a sippy cup, ice pop mold or whatever container you want.)
I got an early look at a set of the Capri Sun Straw Pops molds and filled them with some Capri Sun Fruit Punch. Initially, I was hestitant to lay the capped molds horizontally in my freezer, but they seemed to stay sealed. A few hours later, I was able to enjoy a Capri Sun ice pop by squeezing from the bottom end of the mold and crunching off icy bits of punch. I thought I overfilled one, but as it froze, the cap pushed its way out as the liquid inside expanded without mess. In fact, I wish I had removed it a little earlier for something a bit slushier, but it was still refreshing.
