Swap Controversial Thanksgiving Foods for Jell-O With These Side Dish-Shaped Molds

Even if Thanksgiving is your favorite holiday of the year (who doesn’t love a day dedicated to food?), you may not love every dish on the Thanksgiving table spread. Whether you have strong feelings on how creamy green beans should be, whether yams should be topped with marshmallows, or what shape cranberry sauce belongs in, some Thanksgiving sides and sweets are perennially controversial. But this year, iconic dessert brand Jell-O is inviting you to rethink those dishes guests most commonly say “no thanks” to with molds that look like classic Thanksgiving staples.
Jell-O’s “No Thanks” Thanksgiving Molds are a trio of limited-edition silicone molds shaped like a bowl of Brussels sprouts, a pecan pie and a perfectly cylindrical can of cranberry sauce. Why those three dishes (all of which I happen to love)? According to a survey conducted on behalf of Jell-O, a third of Americans aren’t fans of Brussels sprouts, a quarter avoid the cranberry sauce, and one in five aren’t interested in a slice of pecan pie.

Jell-O molds have been around for 125 years, the brand’s announcement states, and various molded desserts and salads have been a traditional part of Thanksgiving dinners and other festivities off and on depending on tastes and trends. But these new molds offer a unique way to bring Jell-O back to the table in a familiar form.
Of course, to get your jiggly versions of these foods looking like their inspirations, your sprouts might need to be lime flavored and your pie in something pecan color-adjacent like orange. In case you’re wondering, yes, there is cranberry-flavored Jell-O, perfect for the can-shaped mold. (Then again, if you’re trying to swap out the cranberry sauce, maybe stick to strawberry.)
“Thanksgiving is all about togetherness, but we know not every side dish unites the table,” said Lauren Gumbiner, Associate Marketing Director at Kraft Heinz. “With our ‘No Thanks’ Thanksgiving molds, we’re turning the most debated dishes into something everyone can actually say yes to — in an unmistakably JELL-O way. Thanksgiving sides may lean beige and predictable, but JELL-O adds back color in a way that feels fresh and relevant for today’s table.”
To snag the Jell-O No Thanks mold of your choice for $4.99 each (or get at three), they’ll be available starting Tuesday, November 11 on walmart.com while supplies last. And if you need help remembering how to do a perfect Jell-O mold, the brand advises you to stay tuned to its Instagram and TikTok for helpful holiday how-tos and tips.
