Forget Lattes, Panera’s New Holiday Cups Are for Soup
The bakery chain is releasing a trio of mugs celebrating three of their iconic items.

We don’t even need to mention their name, but we’re pretty sure you think of one coffee company in particular when it comes to festive holiday cups. While there are plenty of other chains out there ringing in the season with decorated drinkware, Panera has entered the chat to rival the return of these colorful containers in an unexpected way.
Sure, Panera sells coffee along with its bread and pastries, but what sets its newly released holiday cups apart from the competition is what goes inside them. No, it’s not gingerbread lattes or peppermint hot cocoa. Panera is celebrating the holidays with soup.
Starting today, you can head to the Panera Shop to score a trio of ugly-sweater-inspired mugs featuring familiar nods to three of the brands’ mainstay menu items — Creamy Tomato Soup, Broccoli Cheddar Soup and one dedicated to that other cozy serving vessel, the bread bowl.
The set of three, 24-ounce ceramic mugs retails exclusively online for $10 (plus shipping) and each features a wraparound, knit-style design in either red (tomatoes), green (broccoli and cheese) and lavender (bread bowls).

But, of course, they don’t come with soup inside them… yet. The bundle does, however, come with a $20 Panera gift card included, meaning this soup-filled deal pretty much pays for itself.
While tomato and Broccoli Cheddar are getting all the love on the outside of the mugs, Panera is also using the launch to remind us that you can fill them with any soup of your choosing including the newly added signature offerings of Hearty Fireside Chili and Rustic Baked Potato, plus the seasonal Autumn Squash Soup.
Panera says it serves up 140 million servings of soup annually, so whether that’s in the restaurant or from the company’s Panera At Home products, some of those servings just got a little merrier.
