You can’t go wrong with eggs and cheese.

We have long known a thing or two about the food preferences of Prince Charles.
Thing one: The heir to the British throne won’t eat garlic.
Thing two: He adores cheese.
“He loves local cheeses. He’s a huge cheese fan,” his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, shared back in 2018. “Anything to do with cheese, he’ll love.”
Camilla also divulged at the time that the prince also enjoys “anything with eggs,” perhaps prepared “with a bit of local vegetables of some kind.”
Apparently, she wasn’t making it up. The royal family has just shared, via social media, one of Prince Charles’ favorite recipes and it’s… Cheesy Baked Eggs, which, the Clarence House Twitter page notes, “can be made by using any number of our great British cheeses.”
Among the ingredients in the recipe, which was released in honor of last weekend’s British Cheese Weekender event, are an egg; wilted spinach; torn basil; cherry or sundried tomatoes (local, presumably preferred); double cream; a hard cheese, such as Old Winchester; and a “strong soft cheese,” such as Tunworth or Golden Cenarth. Charcuterie is optional and using organic ingredients is recommended.
“One thing that undoubtedly brings many of us great comfort is good food,” Prince Charles, who has been Patron of the Speciality Cheesemakers Association since 1993, observed. “British cheesemakers need our support during this time of great uncertainty.”
Here’s to civic-minded cheese eating.
