Creamy Dreamy Vanilla Ice Cream

Special equipment:
an ice cream machine
  1. Whisk the half-and-half, condensed milk, sugar, vanilla seeds and salt together until sugar is dissolved. Churn the mixture in an ice cream machine according to the manufacturer's instructions. (Take care not to over-churn the ice cream or it can have a grainy texture.)
  2. Transfer the ice cream to a freezer-safe container and freeze until firm, at least 1 hour, before serving.

Cook’s Note

For strawberry swirl ice cream, prepare and churn the ice cream as directed above. Before placing in the freezer, fold and swirl diced hulled strawberries and strawberry syrup or seedless strawberry jam into the ice cream. Transfer to the freezer safe container and freeze as above.
