Buffalo-Style Chopped Salad

No one says you need to save the creamy, tangy flavors of buffalo wings only for chicken. Those same flavors can be used to transform a simple crisp salad, like we did here. Blending some avocado into the base of a ranch dressing adds extra nutrition and creamy texture.

Directions

  1. Puree 1/2 avocado with 1/2 cup buttermilk, 1 tablespoon each cider vinegar and water, 1 scallion and 2 tablespoons each chopped dill and parsley until smooth; season with salt and pepper. Combine 1 small head chopped iceberg lettuce and 1/2 cup each halved grape tomatoes, sliced celery and shredded carrots in a large bowl. Drizzle with the dressing and 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper hot sauce. Top with crumbled blue cheese.
