This sugar-filled episode starts the chefs' day off with an instant breakfast treat and maple butter in the appetizer round. Will one chef's dream of winning the $10,000 go up in flames? It's anyone's game as pheasant is paired with a chocolate candy treat and vanilla beans. It's a bit of a shell game, as one chef makes dollars from donuts in the dessert round.
Things really heat up as four chefs tug at our heartstrings in this emotional episode of Chopped Canada. In the appetizer round, the competition tries not to choke on processed cheese and baked beans. The entree forces them to sharpen their skills with razor clams and hickory sticks. Another family favorite makes an appearance in the dessert round, finding one chef right in his comfort zone.
The chefs hope the basket ingredients speak to them and inspire them to create some delicious appetizers from smoked beef tongue and garbanzo beans. Then the competitors have a heck of a time making halibut work with aquavit in their entree dishes. And the judges are eager to see what the last two chefs can do with banana chips and almond butter in the dessert round.
The chefs learn that they must grill something in each round of this competition. For their appetizers, the chefs discover watermelon and wine coolers in the basket. A beautiful cut of beef and tedious-to-prep beans await the chefs who make it to the second round. A cone of sugar and a pitcher of lemonade are two of the fun items found in the dessert basket.
It's a lazy day and Claire is making some of her favorite brunch recipes. Moist, mouthwatering brown butter muffins go great with her creamy vanilla bean yogurt coconut smoothie. But the true stars of this brunch are Claire's southern eggs en cocotte, made with only 5 ingredients but so rich and delicious you may just have to take a little nap after finishing your plate.
Kardea Brown invites her family and friends over for a good ol' fashioned fish fry, so of course there's Cajun Fried Flounder with Dijon Tartar Sauce. Next, Kardea fries up Miss Brown's Hushpuppies Two Ways, traditional and with okra, and cooks up Skillet Green Beans topped with parmesan and lemon zest. For dessert, Kardea makes beautifully creamy Mini Fruit Tarts with blueberries and raspberries.
