For dessert, Janet creates homemade Chocolate Mulled Wine Sauce to serve over indulgent Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.
At the end of a long day, cooking can seem like just another exhausting chore. So Nigella shares those simple foods you can face cooking on those days when you just have to hit the kitchen running. This trip, Guy Fieri's checking back with some of the hottest and coolest in Flavortown! A rockin' Reno, Nev., pizzeria is firing up even more faves, like next-level polenta and meatballs and the-bomb BLT. Then, a Cleveland two-for-one spot is going strong, puttin' their spin on Spam musubi and craveable cornbread-and-honey ice cream. Plus, lights-out Latin in Colorado Springs has upgraded from the truck to a brick-and-mortar, cookin' killer kimchi quesadillas and funkalicious chimi shrimp tacos.
Our favorite comfort foods the low carb way—it can be done! Chef George Stella creates several sinfully satisfying low carb dishes: "beefed-up" meat loaf with a layer of prosciutto and provolone, onion rings, Southern fried chicken, "mock" garlic mashed potatoes, and a quick chocolate almond ice cream. Go ahead, indulge without the guilt!
Top 5 Tips
1. You can eat onions on a low carb diet. Avoid them the first few weeks, but in moderation, they're fine.
2. Use a mixture of parmesan cheese and eggs in place of breadcrumbs. They'll bind just as well as their carb-laden counterpart.
3. Soybeans are already toasted and have a tendency to burn when you deep-fry them. This is why we finish the chicken in the oven, rather than in the oil.
4. Cauliflower is low in carbs and absorbs the flavor of any ingredient you put with it.
5. Use a plastic baggie for the dessert if you don't own a pastry bag. Fill baggie with your mock ice cream, snip off a corner, and pour mixture into tall glasses.
Caplansky's is our first stop, a Jewish deli truck out of Toronto, Ontario, serving up classics with a twist such as the WZE Sandwich, featuring grilled kosher style salami, schmaltz laced chopped liver, red onions and Russian honey mustard all in a mini challah bun! We then cool things down at the Lake St Creamery who are serving up deliciously unique ice cream flavors including home made donuts, Earl Grey Tea and even Whiskey. Next we rock up in Nashville Tennessee for some original Mexican gourmet at the Yayo's OMG truck. Topping off this episode, we go nuts for donuts in Austin, Texas at the Gourdough's truck. These guys do donuts unlike anyone else such as The Porky's, injected with Jalapeno jelly and topped with cream cheese and Canadian bacon. Mmmm, donuts.
This trip, Guy Fieri's checking back with some of the most amped-up American eats! First, a Phoenix burger joint has expanded, found success in pizza and ice cream, and is keepin' it creative with funky fritter flavor bombs and not-your-everyday nacho patties. Then, dynamite diner grub is going strong in Buffalo, N.Y., with mind-blowing blueberry pancakes and a big-deal BBQ meatloaf bomber, and a family-run Triple-D O.G. in Goshen, Ind., is still crankin' out killer comfort with their savory snapper soup.
This trip, Guy Fieri's checkin' in with the-bomb breakfast, BBQ, and burger joints! In Austin, Texas, the barbecue is still bangin' at this hip-hop sandwich shop, slingin' their spin on banh mi and a chicken-brisket mashup. Then, a family-run Triple-D OG north of Chicago shows no signs of slowing down, stackin' a serious smash burger and outrageous ice cream pie. Plus, a New Orleans neighborhood staple is keepin' the first meal of the day delicious, plating out-of-bounds bananas foster French toast and a craveable crab omelet.
