Pastry Cream Classics

In this single-challenge episode, host Jesse Palmer asks the nine chefs to face off in a decadent dessert showdown that tests their mastery of pastry cream. The bakers are randomly assigned one of three indulgent desserts -- Boston cream pie, coconut cream pie, or Italian rum cake -- and must craft their own interpretation of the classic dessert for presentation to judges Duff Goldman and Shinmin Li.

Mastery of Sugar

Host Jesse Palmer assigns each chef one of five elements -- earth, air, fire, water, or space. The competitors have three hours to design an extraordinary large-format dessert with a decorative sugar element and execute their creations, blending imagination with technical mastery. Each dessert must include a striking sugar showpiece and an edible sugar element that embodies their assigned element for judges Duff Goldman and Jacques Torres.

Host Jesse Palmer challenges the final three chefs to create a spectacular dessert display that showcases their overall skills. Each chef must deliver a theatrical experience that is inspired by one of three vibrant themes: Carnival, Las Vegas, or Rock Concert After-Party. In the Preheat, host Jesse Palmer asks the bakers to transform classic steakhouse desserts into holiday treats. For the Main Heat, the competitors turn one of the most-iconic steakhouse desserts into a baked Alaska Christmas tree. In the end, judges Nancy Fuller, Duff Goldman and Carla Hall will send one baker home.

Crowning the Spring Baking Champion

Two bakers find out their fate as one baker advances to the last round. Then, host Jesse Palmer challenges the final three bakers to create sky-high Marie Antoinette spring hairdo cakes with floral flavors and at least three layers decorated with an elaborate floral headdress theme. Judges Duff Goldman, Kardea Brown and Nancy Fuller decide who will be crowned Spring Baking Champion and walk away with $25,000!
