Halloween Wars is back for Season 13, and the search is on for 27 talented pumpkin carvers, cake decorators and sugar artists who have what it takes to compete in the biggest and most terrifying Halloween competition around. As the Halloween Wars crew travels from coast to coast, these artists hone their craft in hopes of walking away with the $25,000 grand prize.

Baskets open, minds churning! In the first round, a trendy pastry in the basket inspires debate, and as the clock ticks down, the judges worry that not all of the chefs are on pace to finish their appetizers. Getting steaks in the second round seems like a gift, but cooking them perfectly is not a gimme. Then in the final round, the chefs must figure out how to make a hybrid comfort food go with a savory frozen item.
Host Geoffrey Zakarian and judges Daphne Oz and Marcus Samuelsson throw the cooks and cons a curve ball in round one by tasking them with fusing corn and hot dogs. After one contestant strikes out, the remaining contestants continue to round two in hopes of making their best dish incorporating barbecue.
The final four bakers are enveloped in the iconic pairing of wine and cheese as hosts Stephanie Boswell and Ludo Lefebvre send them to a fromagerie where they'll shop for a dessert spotlighting cheese! Then, the bakers set sail on a river cruise with sommelier Crislaine Medina and her lesson in delectable French wine and cheese pairings. Back in the kitchen, the competitors apply what they've learned to create a perfect pairing of two desserts featuring a French wine or liqueur.
John Henson has a problem in the haunted Paranormal Research Lab, and he's hoping to summon the spirit of Beetlejuice to help broker a deal with the other spirits. To butter up the ghost with the most, John asks the bakers to make black and white desserts using black and white ingredients. Then, John challenges the bakers to create Shrinker desserts that feature a tiny desert on top and large dessert on the bottom. In the end, judges Carla Hall, Zac Young and Stephanie Boswell banish one baker to the cyro-chamber.
Julia loves bouillabaisse but cannot seem to get her fish stock right. Tyler teaches Julia how to perfect her bouillabaisse recipe by introducing her to the local fishmonger and by walking her through the recipe step by step.
