Meet the Chef Who Won the World Series … Two Times in a Row!
The LA Dodgers are your 2025 World Series champions, but they never would have won on an empty stomach.
Executive chef Christine Gerriets started in sports food entertainment 15 years ago; 10 years ago, she took a job as a sous chef for the Dodgers and says the rest was history.
Chef Christine Gerriets is the first female executive chef in Dodger Stadium history, and one of a handful in professional sports. A native Angeleno, she and her team's ballpark eats reflect the incredible diversity of Los Angeles, serving everything from steak-and-lobster wonton nachos to bone marrow tacos.
With a capacity of more than 56,000, Dodger Stadium is the biggest ballpark in the MLB by almost 8,000 seats. Feeding all those fans is no easy task, but thanks to the support of her staff and encouragement from her parents, chef Gerriets is able to make history alongside her teammates, Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Earlier this year, she competed on Guy’s Grocery Games, facing off against rival executive chefs for the San Francisco Giants, Boston Red Sox and New York Mets (go Mets!). And she knocked it out of the park with these culinary creations.

Game 1: Stadium Classic
In Round 1, Guy spun a pair of wheels, deciding which two ballpark staples contestants would have to fuse to vie for the $20,000 prize. Lucky for chef Gerriets, this was not her first time making chicken wing tacos.
At Dodger Stadium (and in all of Southern California), tacos are held to a very high standard. There was no way chef Gerriets was getting bounced in the first round. She used a classic Buffalo sauce for the wings, and rounded out the spice with a refreshing pico de gallo and salty blue cheese crumble.
Game 2: Box Seat Ball Dish
After advancing to Round 2, contestants had to prepare a luxury meal fit for ballpark VIPs. Chef Gerriets tapped into her Armenian and Lebanese roots when she made kataifi-wrapped prawns with heirloom tomato jam. She serves the same dish annually at the Dodgers Foundation Gala — save for the peanut butter-infused brown sauce that she used to include the mandatory ingredient of peanuts.
As is the nightmare of all athletes, chef Gerriets sadly lost in the finals to chef Ron Abell from … Boston. But just a few months later, she would be crowned a champion: Unlike the Sox, Christine and the Dodgers would go on to win the 2025 World Series (for the second year in a row!), beating the Toronto Blue Jays on their home field in seven games.
