Halo Top Ice Cream Now Comes on a Stick
The 'snackable mini ice cream pops' aim to help with portion control — because some of us need all the help we can get.
There are those among us who open a pint of Halo Top with spoon in hand and do not stop until we reach the bottom. And while the subsequent rush of guilt may be somewhat less extreme than we might feel had we just finished a full pint of, say, Ben & Jerry’s or Häagen-Dazs, with their higher calorie and fat content, we still may feel regret about losing control over our portion size.
It’s … just … so … hard to stop.
Happily, Halo Top has just introduced a new product for people like us: Halo Top Pops — “snackable mini ice cream pops” on wooden sticks that are only 50 to 60 calories apiece and low in sugar.
Sold in boxes of six, the portion-controlled pops are being launched in four varieties: Mint Chip, Peanut Butter Swirl, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and new Halo Top flavor Strawberry Cheesecake.
“We love ice cream in all forms and these pops seemed like the next logical place to take our brand,” Doug Bouton, Halo Top Creamery’s president and COO said in a release. “We tried to choose an ideal size for portion-control, but also made sure to pack six to a box so there are plenty to go around!”
Yeah, probably counterproductive to eat the whole box in one sitting. (Just think of that sad pile of denuded sticks looking accusingly up at you …)
Halo Top Pops are rolling out in stores over the next few months, but are already available to ship nationwide via Halo Top’s online shop.
Meanwhile, Halo Top is sweetening the launch by giving away the pops (30,000, while supplies last) for free at Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall in New York City on Valentine’s Day, February 14.
The brand will also give away 1,000 free boxes of Halo Top Pops online beginning at 12 p.m. EST on February 14. Just click here, select your relationship status (Single = Strawberry Cheesecake, Taken = Peanut Butter Swirl, It’s Complicated = Mint Chip and Just Hungry = Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough) — because Valentine’s Day — and enter the code HALOTOPPOPS at checkout.
There’s a limit of one 6-pop box per customer in the online giveaway. But that’s probably for the best. Portion control, remember?
