Highest-Level Recall Issued for Bacon in 3 States

As per a release from the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and the USDA, there has been a recall of over 12,000 pounds of NRT (not-ready-to-eat) smoked bacon "that was imported from Canada without the benefit of import reinspection into the United States."
Which products are being recalled?
Two specific products have been recalled: Royale Natural Applewood Smoked All Natural Uncured Bacon and Top Valu Uncured Hardwood Smoked Bacon. Both were produced in early to mid June, and all of the recalled products have a "best by" date in early September. They were sold by Illinois-based Maple Leaf Foods in 12-ounce packages at retailers throughout Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
"The problem was discovered during routine FSIS inspection activities," according to the FSIS notice.
How serious is this recall?
This is a Class I recall, which denotes "a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death."
What should I do if I have the recalled bacon?
Though there have been no injuries yet reported, any consumers who may have this product on hand should dispose of it immediately.
"FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers' refrigerators and freezers," the release says. "Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase."
