French’s is ready to celebrate National Mustard Day with a new limited-edition product. The popular condiment brand just unveiled mustard-flavored hot dog buns in celebration of the upcoming food holiday, which falls on August 7.
The buns, which boast a yellow hue thanks to the French’s Classic Yellow Mustard that’s baked inside them, were developed in partnership with Piantedosi Baking Company — a New England based wholesale bakery with over 100 years of expertise. They’ll be available beginning August 7 at popular landmarks and baseball stadiums across the country, including those in cities such as New York City, Baltimore, Los Angeles, Chicago and Boston, while supplies last.
“For over 115 years, French’s has delivered bold, all-American flavor to customers nationwide,” Jill Pratt, chief marketing excellence officer for McCormick said in a statement. “Year after year, we look forward to raising the French’s flag in celebration of National Mustard Day, by introducing exciting new ways to enjoy the bright, tangy taste of mustard.”

Per a press release, the mustard buns sport a golden tone, are soft in texture, and have a “distinct, yet subtle tang” that doesn't overpower your taste buds. For an extra burst of flavor, the French’s folks suggest topping your hot dog or sandwich with some additional mustard.
In year’s past, French’s has gotten equally creative with their mustard-flavored creations for the occasion. Last year it was all about French’s Mustard Beer, which was crafted in partnership with Colorado brewery Oskar Blues and featured “hints of key lime, lemon, tangerine and passion fruit.”
In 2019, French’s Mustard Ice Cream was the thing, and it was created in conjunction with Coolhaus. “We used their real mustard blended into our creamy base, but we rounded out the savory qualities with the sweetness of cake batter to tie it all together,” Coolhaus CEO Natasha Case said at the time. “The result is a multi-layered experience of flavor that is thought-provoking.”
This year, the folks at Piantedosi Baking Company were psyched to work with French’s to create the unique and flavorful mustard buns. “Mixing the bold flavor of their Classic Yellow Mustard and our innovative baking process, we developed a truly unique bread formula for National Mustard Day,” Carmine Piantedosi, operations manager, fourth generation and owner at Piantedosi Baking Company, explained. “We’re thrilled to have thousands of people across the country taste the awesome buns that we created!”
