Igloo Recall Expands To Include Nearly 1.2 Million Coolers
The update follows additional reports of fingertip injuries, including amputations.

Before you head out for a picnic this summer, double check your cooler. Igloo has expanded the recall of its 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers in response to additional reports of fingertip amputations, bone fractures and lacerations. Nearly 1.2 million coolers in the United States have now been recalled.
“The tow handle can pinch consumers’ fingertips against the cooler, posing fingertip amputation and crushing hazards,” the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission report states.
The original recall on Feb. 13 included roughly 1,060,000 coolers in the U.S., 47,000 in Canada and 23,000 in Mexico. Igloo had received 12 reports of fingertip injuries at the time and has since gotten 78 more. The expansion issued on May 8 now includes approximately 130,000 additional coolers in the U.S., 20,000 in Canada and 5,900 in Mexico.
The recalled coolers have a tow handle and the word igloo printed on their sides. They were sold in a variety of body and lid color combinations including blues, grays and whites. They were sold at retailers nationwide including Costco, Target, Academy and Dick’s, as well as on Amazon and Igloo’s website, between January 2019 and January 2025. They were manufactured through December 2023.
To identify your cooler, locate the date of manufacture on the bottom where it is imprinted “in a circular pattern with an arrow pointing to the month of manufacture and the last two digits of the year of manufacture inside the circle,” according to the report. The model number can be found on a label on the bottom of the cooler as well. You can find the full lists of recalled models in the CPSC reports.
