It’s About Dang Time – KFC Launches Chicken Nuggets

There’s been something of a bite-sized chicken showdown for almost as long as there’s been rival chicken sandwiches. Between spicy tenders and grilled nuggets, this battle has gone in all sorts of directions – except what many may consider the most obvious of places!
KFC may have been offering buckets of fried chicken for many years, but they’ve not been a part of the nugget game. Finally, they’ve put their famous recipe to the test in nugget form.
“While nuggets often come in small packages, that doesn’t mean they should have small flavor. We wanted to introduce Nuggets with the flavor and ingredients that live up to our legacy as the original fried chicken experts,” said Nick Chavez, CMO, KFC U.S. in a statement to the media.
While KFC has previously offered options such as Popcorn Chicken and “bites,” they have technically never done a nugget – making it about dang time. But now, Kentucky Fried Chicken Nuggets have arrived. Well, sort of. The nuggets are 100% white meat hand-breaded with KFC’s Original Recipe of 11 Herbs and Spices, making them a surefire hit for any fan of the classic original recipe, who happens to appreciate a meal on the go. Except they aren’t going to be that easy to come by. At least for now.
Unfortunately, most of us will have to wait a while to try it. The new nuggets are only being tested at select locations in the Charlotte, North Carolina area, and only for a limited time.
The first people to try the nuggets will be people who bring nuggets (of a sort) into the world daily. KFC is delivering an exclusive first taste of the nuggets to staff at several Atrium Health maternity center locations. As if there was ever anyone who deserved a free lunch more!
The nuggets will be 8-piece, 12-piece and 36-piece sizes, with pricing varying by location. For the rest of us who are feeling a bit left out? Available in restaurants nationwide starting today, KFC’s $5 Mac & Cheese Bowls are back for a limited time only. Hey, that’s still pretty great!
