KFC Now Sells Tiny Buckets of Chicken
Because sometimes you just want a little snack.
DAN GOLDBERG
In 1957, Kentucky Fried Chicken forever reprogrammed our idea of fried chicken with the introduction of its now-iconic bucket. At the time, said bucket would be filled with 14 pieces of chicken, five dinner rolls and a pint of gravy. But not every trip to the drive-thru warrants an entire family meal. Sometimes you just want a little snack, which is exactly why KFC just rolled out Go Buckets.
What are KFC Go Buckets?
KFC Go buckets are miniature buckets of chicken, plus a side. They’re designed to hold a snack-sized portion of fried chicken wings, popcorn chicken, nuggets or one tender and a choice of either wedges or fries. And importantly, for the “Go” part of the equation, these tiny buckets are car cupholder compatible.
OK, it should be pretty obvious that what we’re calling “buckets” are, well, just cups. But if KFC wants to call them buckets, that’s good enough for us.
“People want food to fit into their day, not the other way around,” Melissa Cash, Chief Marketing Officer, KFC U.S. says. “Go Buckets open up a new snacking occasion for KFC, whether guests are grabbing one on the go or picking up a few to feed the group. We wanted to meet those changing habits by giving guests more for their money while making it easier to enjoy the KFC they know and love.”
What exactly comes in KFC Go Buckets?
At launch, KFC is offering a few different chicken and potato combinations in its Go Buckets. For the chicken, you can choose either four nuggets, two Double Crispy Hot Wings, popcorn chicken or one tender. As for the side, you can pick either french fries or potato wedges, which, if you’re familiar with the KFC menu already, come in the “Individual” portion size. All Go Buckets also come with your choice of sauce for dipping. And because all things these days are about protein, KFC touts that each Go Bucket contains 16 to 18 grams, depending on which combination you choose.
When are KFC Go Buckets available?
KFC GO Buckets are available starting this week (officially as of Monday, October 5) at participating KFC restaurants nationwide. They start at $3.49 each, though prices may vary by location.
