Following Oreo, Kraft Launches Gluten-Free Boxed Mac and Cheese
It’s about time.
Kraft is getting in the gluten-free game. The food brand that’s perhaps best known for its boxed mac and cheese (among other cheesy products) recently announced that it’s adding a gluten-free variety of the beloved pantry staple to its lineup.
Unlike Kraft’s traditional mac and cheese, this new boxed variety, which meets the FDA’s gluten-free standards, is made with brown rice and corn pasta instead of wheat. That means that those with a gluten allergy or intolerance can now enjoy the popular comfort food without worrying about potentially getting sick.
What’s more? While the recipe for Kraft’s Gluten-Free Mac and Cheese does differ slightly from the company’s original mac and cheese recipe, Kraft promises that the newest addition to its mac and cheese family is “just as smooth and deliciously cheesy” as the original version fans know and love.
“Families love our Kraft mac and cheese, and we didn’t want to limit who could enjoy our iconic blue box,” Emily Violett, senior associate brand manager at Kraft Heinz, said in a statement. “With our new gluten free offering, fans with dietary restrictions or gluten intolerance can now have our deliciously cheesy Kraft Gluten Free Mac and Cheese, and that’s something to smile about!”
Those itching to get a taste of this new savory dish will be thrilled to know that it’s currently available at select retailers nationwide. Just look for it on the mac and cheese aisle and be sure to grab the box with the green “gluten free” label.
This marks the second time in as many days that a food brand has announced the debut of a new gluten-free product. Earlier this week, Oreo revealed that it plans to release Oreo Gluten-Free cookies and Oreo Double Stuf Gluten-Free cookies in January 2021.
A mac and cheese entrée followed by Oreos for dessert sounds like a delicious gluten-free meal.
