"The Negroni," says Julie Reiner, "is one of the most perfect cocktails ever created—and probably the drink I make for myself more often than anything else at home." Although the classic version is made with equal parts gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari, Reiner likes it "boozier," with a bit more gin.
Add sweet vermouth, Campari, and gin to a mixing glass. Add ice and stir, then strain into a chilled glass that holds one huge ice cube. Garnish with an orange twist: First, squeeze it over the drink to release its oils. Then run it skin side down around the rim of the glass before dropping it into the drink.
