Mulled Cranberry Punch

One 750-milliliter bottle dark spiced rum

4 cups unfiltered cranberry juice 

4 cups apple cider 

1 cup maple syrup 

1 cup honey 

1 teaspoon grated clove or nutmeg 

12 star anise pods 

Cinnamon sticks, for garnish 


  1. Put the rum, cranberry juice, cider, maple syrup, honey, clove and star anise into a large saucepot over medium heat. Cook until a slow simmer is just reached and the honey/maple syrup is dissolved.
  2. Ladle the punch into heatproof glasses or mugs and garnish with cinnamon sticks.
