Running a store’s no mean feat. Ina should know--she ran a deli for 20 years. When a local store manager asks her to help with a thank you meal for his staff, she says yes right away. It’s a French inspired menu of Provencal soup with spoonfuls of pungent green pistou, seafood platters with two zesty sauces sauces and for dessert–coconut madeleines--tiny morsels of light as air sponge. The party will be held right in the middle of the shop and the staff just has to set the table.
On DDD, Guy's seen a ton of sammies and there are a few he'll not soon forget. From the traditional, like the po-boys he whipped up with Emeril Lagasse at Mahoney's Po-Boy Shop, to the ethnic, like the outrageous arepas at Pica Pica, to the downright ducky French dip at Beer Belly. The meat in the middle's taking center stage in standouts like the Smack Shack where the lobster is bursting from the bun and at The Refuge where Guy's divin' into an all-out pastrami extravaganza. These joints are bringin' the old bagged lunch staple to a whole new level.
The Illinois State Fair is one of the longest running fairs in the U.S. and luckily for host Noah Cappe, he's able to sample a taste of Illinois history with the Horseshoe Sandwich: a deep fried pork tenderloin topped with French fries and creamy cheese sauce. Then he puts together an over-the-top deep fried peanut butter sandwich, topped with homemade fluff. Next, Noah travels to New York for the Erie County Fair where he chows down on some local Buffalo favourites like Buffalo Chicken Wing Pizza, Beef on Weck Eggrolls and the Bacon Bomber.
Four champions return to the kitchen as favorites of legendary judge Alex Guarnaschelli. The winner will return for the tournament's grand finale, with Alex as their sous chef. In the first round, a French pastry and a richly flavored fish are two pieces of the culinary puzzle that Alex has devised for her special group of competitors. A lowbrow, universally beloved item is in the entrée basket. Then, the two chefs who make it to the dessert round have ambitious plans for some of Alex’s favorite sweet ingredients, but only one champ can advance in this Chopped Legends tournament!
Guy Fieri and his family catch classic military history at the Alamo before heading to the modern-day Lackland Air Force Base. There, chef Robert Irvine joins to cook a feast of tri-tip French dip, pork tacos, spatchcock chicken and Cajun chicken alfredo to thank the troops for their service. But no good deed goes unpunished, as members of the special forces invite Guy and his son, Hunter, to skydive with them. Finally, the Fieris head for King Ranch to visit some contemporary cowboys and join in a cowboy cookout of smoked nilgai antelope and all the fixings.
It's an international culinary showdown when four returning GGG chefs representing Latin, French, Italian and Korean cuisines battle it out to see who will take home the title. First, Guy Fieri gives them an item limit for making their hometown favorite. Next, their speed is put to the test when Guy has them serve up an international lunch in less than 15 minutes. Finally, the chefs must make their best international high-end dinner featuring both higher and lower-end ingredients chosen by a couple of Guy's specialty food wheels. In the end, only one international all star will come out on top.
Mary Berg loves a grocery store shortcut to make cooking smarter, not harder. Starting with bagged slaw, Mary cooks up golden brown Japanese Okonomiyaki-inspired pancakes, topped with tonkatsu sauce. Then, Mary shows how to jazz up a store-bought rotisserie chicken by turning it into Quick Coq au Vin that will wow any table. For a weekend treat, Mary makes Butternut Squash and Kale Strata, using pre-cut butternut squash, frozen chopped kale and day-old bakery loaf. She finishes with a Creamy French Onion Dip, made with frozen pre-chopped onions, perfect for dipping pita, chips or crudités.
