One minute Chrissy Teigen is announcing on social media that she’s planning “to hide” and get the baby boy she and husband John Legend are expecting in June “ready for the world.” The next she’s posting photos of her surprise baby shower.

Because … friends.

“I am crazy super anti baby showers for myself. Opening gifts in front of people makes me want to die,” the pregnant model and cookbook author wrote in a caption to an Instagram photo in which she appears, smilingly tucked behind Legend, with whom she also has 2-year-old daughter, Luna, and next to Kris Jenner, who hosted. Also pictured in the party snaps: Pals Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Brooklyn Decker and Andy Roddick, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita, among others.

“Receiving gifts makes me very uncomfortable because i feel blessed to the max already and I really hate writing thank you cards with my poor penmanship. But people I love trick me with dinner invites and they happen,” Teigen wrote, thanking her peeps “for knowing me exactly.”

The evening consisted of a “mellow” dinner with “cake” as well as “love,” Teigen shared, calling the surprise celebration “a perfect night.”

Teigen gave specific shoutouts for to Jenner for opening her home and offering up “every carrot cake in the city.”

She wasn’t kidding about the broad array of cakes, many of them including puns involving the last name “Legend,” or her enthusiastic enjoyment of them, as Kardashian’s Snapchat record of the party attests.

There was chill music, provided by the expectant father, but the low-key kicker (talk about a surprise!) was who did the catering: Shake Shack, E! Online reports, noting that assembled partygoers “enjoyed burgers, chicken sandwiches and chocolate and vanilla milkshakes.”

Cute – and very regular-people-ish. Plus, at least one of them was fast-food eating for two.
