According to an FDA enforcement report, Amy's Kitchen has voluntarily recalled its Organic Lentil soup. This impacted over 15,000 cases — more than 180,000 cans — and was issued due to a "potential for spoilage."

Which product was recalled?

The affected product is Amy's Organic Lentil soup, with the "light in sodium" banner at the top of the can. The cans are 14.5 ounces and have a best-by date of April 2027.

“This was a voluntary recall of a single lot of soup (Lot 60D0924 of Organic Lentil Soup — Light in Sodium) due to a manufacturer defect in the can's easy open tab, which has the potential to cause spoilage," the brand says in a statement. "Amy's recalled the lot out of an abundance of caution to ensure the high quality of its products. No other Amy’s products or lots are involved.”

How serious is this recall?

This is noted as a Class II recall, meaning that it involves "a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."

What should I do if I do have the recalled soup?

Amy's is sold in various retailers across the U.S. and Canada, as well as online. Check your pantries in case you have this soup on hand. If so, you should dispose of it.
