A Beloved KFC Side Is Finally Returning Nationwide
The chain is bringing back its fan-favorite potato wedges on August 18.

Some fast-food menu items are discontinued but never forgotten. These items may leave forever or return for limited engagements, but the demand always remains. Will anyone ever stop talking about the McDonald’s McRib or Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza? But at the top of that list for many of us are the potato wedges at KFC.
Last available nationwide at KFC in 2020, the potato wedges returned to Tampa in March for a two-week test launch, and everyone got super excited. Was this it? Would a nationwide rollout be next?
Apparently, yes — but once again, for a limited time. To celebrate National Potato Day, KFC is bringing back the wedges nationwide on August 18, while supplies last.
“The people demanded, the Colonel listened,” KFC says in a press release.
The wedges were ushered out and replaced by fries a few years ago in an attempt to streamline the menu. But for many loyalists, there’s nothing quite like them. They’re seasoned and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and great dipped in gravy or sauce (but they’re also perfect on their own).
Participating locations will offer them in a Wings & Wedges bundle with six marinated and double hand-breaded Hot & Spicy Wings. That may just be the best duo ever. You can also swap out a side in any order for wedges or get them by themselves.
