One of the Best-Selling Items of 2024 Is Returning to Taco Bell Menus
Fan-favorite Cheesy Street Chalupas are back, but again, only for a limited time.

When Taco Bell introduced its street-food-inspired Cheesy Street Chalupas in July 2024, they were a hit. So when the limited-time-only item went away not too long later, its fans were not happy.
At the time, one Redditor called the Cheesy Street Chalupas’ removal from menus a “tragedy.”
“This was the BEST ITEM THEY’VE PUT OUT IN YEARS. And then they remove it after A MONTH?!?” the Redditor wrote in a post that spurred an outpouring of Cheesy Street Chalupa enthusiasm and love from others. “This is devastating news.”
“If it did well, it’ll make a return,” another Redditor predicted.
Well, Cheesy Street Chalupa fans, that moment has arrived. Taco Bell just announced that, starting August 14, and in response to what it says was “overwhelming fan demand,” it’s bringing back its Cheesy Street Chalupa. More good news? Available at participating Taco Bell locations nationwide, the super popular menu item will be priced the same as previously: $5.49 for an order of two. However, again, the Cheesy Street Chalupa will be available only for a limited time, while supplies last.

Taco Bell, which riffed on the theme earlier this year with the limited-time-only Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas, described the Cheesy Street Chalupas as an “evolution” of its “iconic” Quesalupa, which debuted back in 2016. Inspired by the ingredients traditionally found in street tacos, as well as their modest and portable size, the Chalupas offer your choice of protein, such as slow-roasted chicken or grilled, marinated steak, wrapped in a warm Quesalupa-inspired shell featuring melted mozzarella and pepperjack cheese. Served in a bundle of two, Cheesy Street Chalupas are topped with fresh onions and cilantro and creamy Jalapeño Ranch dressing.
“We draw inspiration from all parts of the culinary world but for Cheesy Street Chalupas, we looked to the innovative spirit of street food culture. This menu item embodies that same passion for fusion and bold flavors in a way that still feels uniquely Taco Bell,” Luis Restrepo, Taco Bell’s vice president of product innovation, says in a press release. “We’re so excited to bring back this beloved menu item, especially after recognizing the massive fandom it sparked when we first launched it.”
Cheesy Street Chalupas can also be ordered as part of a $9 Luxe Cravings Box, which includes two Cheesy Street Chalupas, a Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito, chips and nacho cheese sauce, and a medium fountain drink.
