Utz Potato Chips Have Been Recalled, Including 3 Zapp's Flavors

There's nothing like munching on some potato chips at lunch alongside your favorite deli sandwich. However, you'll want to take a closer look at that bag: As of last week, multiple potato chips from Utz have been recalled due to the potential presence of salmonella. Here's what you need to know.
Why were Utz chips recalled?
On May 4, Utz issued a voluntary recall in the United States of certain limited varieties of Zapp’s and Dirty potato chips. It announced the recall after being notified a seasoning containing dry milk powder, sourced from California Dairies, Inc. and supplied by a third-party supplier, may contain salmonella, according to a recall notice distributed by the Food and Drug Administration.
It's worth noting that no illnesses have been reported in relation to the recalled Utz chips to date. The brand is recalling the chips “out of an abundance of caution,” it says.
Which Utz chips were recalled?
Although the dry milk patches did test negative for salmonella prior to use, Utz is recalling limited varieties of Zapp’s and Dirty brand potato chips as a precautionary measure.
Not only did Utz issue a recall, but some stores have also made customers aware, including Publix, which carried four different potato chip products, Walmart, which had the chips at all of its stores, and other retailers like Kroger, Fry's, Ralphs, Food4Less and FoodCo.
The recall includes three flavors of Zapp's chips (Blackened Ranch, Salt and Vinegar, and Cheezy) in multiple bag sizes (1.5-ounce, 2.5-ounce and 8-ounce) and three flavors of Dirty chips (Salt and Vinegar, Maui Onion and Sour Cream and Onion) in 2-ounce bags. In total, nine Utz products are included in this recall.

What should you do if you have a recalled bag of Utz chips?
If you realize you have a bag of Utz chips that have been recalled, don’t eat them. Utz is issuing refunds to customers affected by this recall who reach out to its customer care team via email or by phone at 1-877-423-0149, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Eastern time.
