I got an advance taste of the brand’s new Chunky Guacamole.

Tostitos makes a go-to tortilla chip and also a stalwart salsa. Soon the brand may be your guacamole mainstay, too. The brand is set to emerge from your pantry and head for your refrigerator, launching its first-ever refrigerated product.
Tostitos Chunky Guacamole will hit retail stores this fall. I had a chance to taste it ahead of its launch, and here’s what guac fans can expect.
What is Tostitos Chunky Guacamole?
Tostitos Chunky Guacamole: Mild, Hint of Lime Flavored Dip is made with fresh Hass avocados as well as onions, tomatoes, jalapeño peppers, spices and a “hint of lime flavor.” The guacamole contains no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. The brand says it’s also Non-GMO Project Verified, vegan, kosher and gluten-free.
Tostitos says the launch is part of a newly “refreshed” identity for the brand and notches a “significant milestone” for it, “representing the first-ever entry into refrigerated dips for Tostitos, an expansion beyond its shelf stable lineup.”
The guacamole will be available in three sizes — 8 ounces, 15 ounces and six-count packs of 2-ounce single-serve portions — intended to offer convenient options for everything from an on-the-go individual snack to group party settings.
"Tostitos has earned its place at the center of shared moments," Rachel Ferdinando, CEO of PepsiCo Foods U.S. says in a product announcement. "Expanding into the refrigerated aisle is a natural evolution of that role and there's more to come."
What does Tostitos Chunky Guacamole taste like?
It genuinely tastes more or less freshly made. I found it to be mild yet flavorful; I liked that “hint of lime.” I could absolutely see picking it up in the market, once it hits the shelves, to save time and effort when hosting a gathering or before meeting up with friends for a picnic in the park. (Chips, guac — done!)
Tostitos says the guacamole has a “chunky texture designed for the perfect scoop.” I did find it easily scoopable. I’m not sure I’d describe it as “chunky” though, but it was appropriately thick. I thought it was actually kind of smooth. Once it hits the shelves, you can decide for yourself.
When will Tostitos Chunky Guacamole be available?
The new guacamole will hit the shelves at select retailers this fall. Pricing has yet to be announced.
