Thermos Has Recalled Over 8 Million Products for a Scary Reason

You probably feel pretty safe placing your coffee in a Thermos and going about your commute to work or school. But you may have to put that routine on pause — the Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall of more than 8 million Thermos products, and the reason why is rather concerning.
Why is Thermos recalling its products?
Much like with pressure cookers, these products generally have a kind of pressure relief built into the stopper as a safety feature. If it doesn't work correctly, then pressure can build — and when the stopper ejects, it can have scary results.
According to Thermos's recall notice, there's a risk of stoppers enacting a "forceful eject" when perishable food or beverages are stored in certain containers for an extended period of time. Since that's whole purpose of these sorts of containers, many users are at risk of what could include lacerations and even blindness.
27 injuries ranging from bruising to permanent blindness have already occurred.
Which Thermos products have been recalled?
Impacted units include Thermos Stainless King Food Jars with model numbers SK3000 and SK3020, which were manufactured before July 2023, and all Thermos Sportsman Food & Beverage Bottles with model number SK3010 that were sold at retailers ranging from Target and Walmart, in stores and online, and on Amazon and Thermos.com between March 2008 and July 2024.
