Aldi shoppers, check your freezers.
About 9,462 pounds of ready-to-eat frozen meatballs have been recalled because they may contain “foreign material, specifically metal,” according to a notice published online by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service on February 22.
The meatball products were sold at Aldi supermarkets nationwide.
Here’s what you need to know:
Which meatball product is being recalled?
The nationwide recall, initiated by Rosina Food Products, Inc., of West Seneca, New York, pertains to ready-to-eat, fully cooked meatballs produced on July 30, 2025 and shipped to Aldi supermarket locations across the U.S.
The meatballs are labeled “Bremer Family Size Italian Style Meatballs” and packaged in 32-ounce “printed poly film” bags that contained “about 64 meatballs per package,” according to the FSIS.
The recalled bags of frozen meatballs are labeled with a Best By date of 10/30/26 and timestamps ranging from 17:08 through 18:20. The bags also feature the establishment number “EST. 4286B” within the USDA mark of inspection.
You can see the labels of the affected products here.
Why are the frozen meatballs being recalled?
The Food Safety and Inspection Service says it became aware of the issue when a customer complained about “metal fragments found within the product.” Fortunately, thus far, there have been no confirmed reports of injury stemming from consumption of the recalled meatballs.
The agency says it is concerned that some of the frozen meatballs, which have a 15-month shelf life, may still be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers.
What should you do if you have the recalled frozen meatballs?
Anyone who has the product is being directed not to consume them, but rather to throw them away or return them to the store where you purchased them. If you have consumed them and are concerned about an injury, the FSIS urges you to connect with a healthcare provider.
