Packaged Pasta Meals Recalled in Deadly Listeria Outbreak – Here’s What To Check For
The products have been sold nationwide at Walmart, Kroger and Trader Joe’s.

Recall alert — and this is a scary one: Several varieties of packaged pre-cooked pasta meals sold nationwide at Walmart, Kroger and Trader Joe’s have been recalled after a sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious illness and even death in those who consume it. The bacteria is the same strain that was implicated in a June 2025 outbreak.
The recalled products include particular lots of pre-cooked fettucine, linguine and farfalle (a.k.a. bowtie pasta) supplied by Nate’s Fine Foods, Inc., to be packaged and sold by retailers in various meal products.
What do you need to know about the pre-cooked pasta recall?
On September 29, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued an alert saying that they are working with state and local agencies to investigate an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections linked to prepared meals containing pasta from the supplier Nate’s Fine Foods.
The outbreak has caused at least 20 illnesses across multiple states including California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nevada, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Utah and Virginia. Nineteen of these reported illnesses — the most recent of which began on September 11, 2025 — have resulted in hospitalizations and four people have died. One case in a pregnant mother resulted in fetal loss.

What pasta products are being recalled now?
Two products sold nationwide have just been recalled.
- Marketside Linguine with Beef Meatballs & Marinara Sauce, produced by FreshRealm, Inc., and sold at Walmart in 12-ounce ready-to-eat packages featuring “best if used by” dates of SEP 22, 2025; SEP 24, 2025; SEP 25, 2025; SEP 29, 2025; SEP 30, 2025; and OCT 01, 2025. The establishment numbers “EST. 50784” or “EST. 47718” appear inside the USDA mark of inspection on the label.
- Trader Joe’s Cajun Style Blackened Chicken Breast Fettucine Alfredo, produced by California Ranch Food Company and sold at Trader Joe’s in 16-ounce plastic tray packages labeled with “best if used by” dates 9/20/2025, 9/24/2025 and 9/27/2025. The establishment number “P- 45288” appears inside the USDA mark of inspection on the label.

What pasta products were previously recalled?
Several FreshRealm Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo Meals — now all past their expiration dates — sold at Walmart and Kroger under different brand names were implicated in a June 2025 recall related to an outbreak of the same strain of Listeria.
- Marketside Grilled Chicken Alfredo with Fettuccine Tender Pasta with Creamy Alfredo Sauce, White Meat Chicken, Broccoli and Shaved Parmesan Cheese, sold in 12.3-ounce packages with a “best-by date” on or before June 26, 2025.
- Marketside Grilled Chicken Alfredo with Fettuccine Tender Pasta with Creamy Alfredo Sauce, White Meat Chicken and Shaved Parmesan Cheese, sold in 32.8-ounce packages with a “best-by date” on or before June 27, 2025.
- Home Chef Heat & Eat Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo With Pasta, Grilled White Meat Chicken, and Parmesan Cheese, sold in 12.5-ounce packages with a “best-by date” on or before June 19, 2025.
The establishment number listed inside the USDA mark of inspection on the affected packaged products are “EST. P-50784,” “EST. P-47770” or “EST. P-47718.”

What should you do if you have one of the recalled pasta meals?
The FSIS is advising consumers to check their refrigerators and freezers for the recalled meals, and if they have them, not to eat or serve them. Those who are unsure if they have purchased any of the affected products, which were generally sold in the refrigerated sections of grocery stores and intended to be microwaved prior to consuming, are advised to contact their local retailer.
Anyone who develops symptoms of listeriosis is advised to contact their health care provider.
What are the symptoms of listeriosis?
Symptoms of infection, which generally begin within two weeks of eating a contaminated food, but can start anytime between the same day or 10 weeks following consumption, may include fever, muscle aches, nausea, tiredness, vomiting and/or diarrhea. In severe cases, symptoms can also include headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions, according to the FSIS.
While most people infected with Listeria recover, infants and children, adults 65 and over, and those with weakened immune systems are at greater risk of becoming severely ill. Pregnant women are also at heightened risk; even when they don’t develop severe symptoms themselves, infection may result in miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery or life-threatening newborn infection.
