The world loves a fast-food menu hack. The latest proof? People are going crazy for the idea of a “secret menu item” at McDonald’s that has been dubbed “Cotton Candy Sprite.”
It’s pretty simple: “Simply order a Sprite and ask your server to add three pumps of vanilla syrup,” advises food Instagrammer @mouthattack in a post that has generated 64,214 likes in a week. “The result? A bubbly, refreshing drink that tastes just like cotton candy — perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth.”
(Yes, apparently McDonald’s has vanilla syrup. It’s what they use for coffee drinks.)
@mouthattack’s post has also generated a raft of comments — some in favor, some opposed.
“It’s one of my favorites,” wrote one commenter.
“it looks refreshing just in time for summer,” another chimed in.
“This is the next level,” a third said.
But there were also doubters:
“It doesn’t taste like cotton candy.. I’ve tried it,” said one.
“Wasn’t good at all lol tasted nothing like cotton candy, more like a creme soda. Dissatisfied!,” another shared.
“So a heart attack and diabetes in a cup,” one sugar-averse commenter sniffed.
For TikToker @realbadlandschug, who you can watch chug a large Cotton Candy Sprite in eight seconds flat, it’s more like a satisfied belch in a cup. “This is the new hack for 2025,” he says. “And we are here to enjoy it.”
But does it really taste like cotton candy? YouTuber Tanuki Dan says yes, sort of.
“I was not expecting it to kind of taste like cotton candy,” he says in a video. “It definitely has that vanilla flavor to it … wow, that’s awesome.”
This McDonald’s worker and TikToker @mcdonalds_hacks101 was more emphatic – and a little confused.. “It actually tastes like cotton candy,” he says in a video. “How?! At this point, I don’t even know. You’re just going to have to try it for yourself.”
We’re game. Why not?
