When you think Shake Shack, you probably think burgers and fries (and milkshakes, of course). For years, your main option for a side dish with your ShackBurger or Chicken Shack sandwich has been the chain’s classic crinkle cut fries, with topping options like cheese sauce and bacon. But if you’re more into sour than salty, you’ve got a new option. This summer, Shake Shack is putting fried pickles on the menu for a limited time.
Fried pickles made their debut as a burger topping, part of last year’s summer BBQ menu, but are now being made available as a standalone side order. “Made with Shake Shack’s proprietary brine, crispy dill pickles are lightly coated in a flavorful batter, perfectly seasoned and fried until crispy, then served with a side of house-made Shack Ranch for dipping.” A Shake Shack spokesperson says the fried pickles are expected to stay on the menu through the summer.
If you’re into something more summery, Shake Shack says their fried pickles pair well with their limited-time summer BBQ menu which returned last month and includes the Smoky Classic BBQ Burger, the Carolina BBQ Burger with Fried Pickles, as well as chicken versions of those sandwiches. If you’re all about sides, there are spicy fries with ranch and spicy cheese fries with ranch to try, too.
Need another reason to treat yourself? Shake Shack is currently in the midst of its month-long celebration leading up to National Burger Day on May 28. And for the final week, from May 26 through June 1, the free burger offered is its namesake ShackBurger. Just use the code “BURGERMONTH” at checkout.
