Our Favorite Ideas for Upgrading S’mores

S’mores are a campfire classic, but just because they’re a near-perfect treat doesn’t mean there isn’t room for improvement. From caramel to berries there are a ton of ways to upgrade the average s’more, without messing with perfection. After all, the basic ingredients — marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers — are present in a ton of different desserts and pair with a lot of different flavors, so it’s a totally versatile treat that can be improved upon in so many ways.

It's also important to remember that s'mores don't always have to be made over an open fire. Your broiler, toaster oven or air fryer are also great options for roasting up a golden-brown marshmallows.

S’mores are super sweet, so adding a bit of salty flavor is a great way to balance out the flavors. In this upgraded version of the classic, we swap in chocolate chip cookies for the graham crackers and add a crisp potato chip in the middle. It’s a combination of textures and flavors that will totally redefine what you love about the classic s’more.
