When my husband and I honeymooned in Austria, there were little pink rum cakes that caught my eye in every bakery we'd visit, they were so pretty! When I got back I created this version inspired by them, swapping out the traditional Rum soak for an almond soak!

This is Molly’s Asian-inspired spin on Midwestern glorified rice, which is like a fluffy rice pudding that is served cold and is in the “salad” category at all the potlucks. Instead of the typical marshmallows, canned pineapple, maraschino cherries and whipped cream, she uses mochi, fresh pineapple, “fancy” cherries and coconut whipped cream. It’s one of those things that you just have to try to believe how good it is. Plus, eat this with your meal…NOT after.

This is a nod to the Scandinavian influence of this region. Instead of a cinnamon roll, Molly created a cardamom roll because of its herbal warmth. It’s like a fragrant cross between eucalyptus, mint and pepper with more citrusy notes than fennel and sweeter than cumin.

During harvest, the farmers are so busy working that sometimes they lose weight because they don’t have time to eat and they’re always moving. So, for most harvest celebrations, Molly makes super filling dishes like casseroles and huge cuts of meat to fill them back up, and this is one of those super rich and hearty dishes. It’s creamy, cheesy, meaty, one of Molly’s top 15 bites of all time.

Molly is a huge fan of pita. She loves its hardiness and versatility. These pitas are stuffed with feta cheese, reminiscent of the cheese-stuffed breadsticks she would get in high school at the lunch cafeteria…but a little fancier for her dinner party friends.

Poutine is a Canadian dish consisting of french fries, gravy and cheese curds. Molly is mixing that up with some of the ingredients from a classic Midwest hotdish. The result is a poutine-inspired upside-down casserole with a classic beef-and-green bean hotdish filling on top of smiley face potato tots, all dotted with cheese curds and covered with beer gravy and parsley to make it fancy.

Sufganiyot are fried jelly-filled donuts that are traditional to eat on Hanukkah. Savory sufganiyot are my jam so rather than toast up croutons for a salad I fried up some tiny savory sufganiyot!

When Molly first experienced Korean corn dogs, she was floored and thought they were incredible. The skewered combination of a fried hot dog and string cheese felt like a mozzarella stick and a corn dog made a delicious baby. This is her take on recreating that recipe: deep-fried and crispy all-beef hot dogs and cheese, dusted in sugar to finish, with ketchup and mustard for dipping. They’re sure to send anyone to corn dog heaven.
