The Savannah Bananas Team Up With 'The Great Food Truck Race'

Known for turning every baseball game into an over-the-top spectacle, the Savannah Bananas brought their signature chaos and charm to the first stop on The Great Food Truck Race — their hometown of Savannah, Georgia. But they weren’t just here to party, they came to test which team really understands what locals like.

The Go Bananas Challenge was on, and host Tyler Florence threw a curveball of his own at the teams: Ditch the usual menus and whip up a brand-new dish on the fly featuring the city’s favorite fruit — you guessed it — bananas. Teams then had just one hour to make and sell as many banana dishes as possible. The team that sold the most scored a major advantage — an extra hour of selling time — while the other eight trucks had to shut things down and pack it up.

Here’s a closer look at a few of the dishes that stood out.

Rising Tiger — Banana Steak Fries

Rising Tiger knocked it out of the park with this one. Their grilled banana steak fries, tossed with fresh herbs, crunchy onions and a bold sweet-heat finish, stole the show and took home the win in the Go Bananas Challenge.

Nishaan — Dubai Cholotae Banana Paratha

Nishaan put together a decadent fusion of crispy sauteed filo dough mixed with pistachio cream, layered over a warm paratha slathered in hazelnut spread and topped with fresh bananas.

Eat My Biscuits — Savannah Banana Biscuit

The Savannah Banana Biscuit from Eat My Biscuits layers soft, caramelized bananas — cooked down in butter, brown sugar and vanilla — over a warm, flaky biscuit. It’s rich, gooey and pure Southern comfort on a tray.
