What you'll need:

  • 2 cups yellow onion skins
  • Saucepan
  • Bottle of white vinegar
  • Small fine-mesh strainer
  • Paper towels
  • Mason jars
  • 2 tablespoons turmeric powder
  • 2 cups blueberries

How to dye eggs using onion skins:

  1. Add 2 cups water to a saucepan.
  2. Add 2 cups yellow onion skins to the saucepan.
  3. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Let cool to room temperature.
  5. Add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to the dye.
  6. Pour over a strainer into a jar with a hard-boiled egg.
  7. Let sit in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
  8. Remove, pat dry and re-dye for an additional 20 minutes in the refrigerator.

  1. Add 1 cup water to a saucepan.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons turmeric powder to the saucepan.
  3. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. Let cool to room temperature.
  5. Add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to the dye.
  6. Pour over a strainer into a jar with a hard-boiled egg.
  7. Let sit in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
  8. Remove, pat dry and re-dye for an additional 20 minutes in the refrigerator.

  1. Add 4 cups water to a saucepan.
  2. Add 2 cups blueberries to the saucepan.
  3. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 1 hour.
  4. Let cool to room temperature.
  5. Add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to the dye.
  6. Pour over a strainer into a jar with a hard-boiled egg.
  7. Let sit in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
  8. Remove, pat dry and re-dye for an additional 20 minutes in the refrigerator. Repeat one more time.

Sprinkle Eggs Decoration

What you’ll need:

  • 2 tablespoons meringue powder
  • Bowl of water
  • Small paintbrush
  • Bowl of sanding sugar
  • Drying rack

How To:

  1. Mix 2 tablespoons meringue powder with 1 1/2 tablespoons water in a bowl (this will be used as glue).
  2. Brush the meringue glue onto a hard-boiled egg, then lay in the bowl of sanding sugar.
  3. Spoon more sanding sugar over the egg.
  4. Let the egg set in the bowl, then transfer to a drying rack and let set for 4 to 6 hours.
