I Tried Little Debbie Chocolate Bars, and Here's My Honest Review
The Cosmic Brownie from your childhood is getting an upgrade.
Sometimes as a kid, if you were lucky, your grownup would slip the occasional sweet treat into your school lunch. And for children of the late 1990s and 2000s, one of the most iconic and cafeteria trade-worthy of them was the Little Debbie Cosmic Brownie. The fudgy rectangle had instant visual appeal with its topping of colorful, candy-coated chocolate chips which, according to Little Debbie’s history, were inspired by the era’s cosmic bowling trend.
Now, the lunchbox staple is getting an appropriately aged-up upgrade as renowned Los Angeles-based chocolatier Compartés has turned it into a gourmet candy bar. The Compartés Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies bar is part of a trio of collaboration chocolate bars with Little Debbie, which includes two more of the snack brand’s beloved products.
Which Little Debbie Treats are available as Compartés chocolate bars?
In addition to the Cosmic Brownie, Compartés is also reimagining a Little Debbie icon, the Oatmeal Creme Pie, which has officially been sold since 1960 but has roots dating back to 1935.
When the Cosmic Brownie debuted in 1999, it was joined by another modern classic, the swirled Honey Bun, which is also getting a Compartés edition. Here are all of the Little Debbie Compartés flavors as described by Compartés:
Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies Chocolate Bar: The lunchbox legend, all grown up. Fudgy brownie pieces and playful sprinkle crunch run through rich dark chocolate for a soft, sweet bite with a little crackle.
Little Debbie Honey Buns Chocolate Bar: The breakfast aisle goes decadent. Warm honey bun flavor and golden, glazed sweetness are swirled through creamy white chocolate for a nostalgic treat that feels instantly familiar.
Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies Chocolate Bar: The after-school favorite made luxurious. Gentle oat spice and sweet creme filling are folded into creamy milk chocolate for a warm, nostalgic bite.
Compartés is no stranger to fun, surprising collaborations. Past releases have incorporated hard seltzer and even Velveeta into chocolate.
What do Compartés’ Little Debbie bars taste like?
The most one-to-one comparison is the Cosmic Brownie, which swaps the milk chocolate flavor of the original snack cake for dark chocolate and still retains the fun factor with the underside coated in those colorful chips.
The Honey Buns bar opts for white chocolate (perhaps bringing it closer to Iced Honey Buns), which gives way to pockets of doughnut-like crumbles.
And the Oatmeal Creme Pies bar similarly offers crumbles throuhout, but the milk chocolate base turns it into an altogether new candy bar creation, almost like a reverse cookies and creme.

Each Compartés Little Debbie bar will retail for $12 at compartes.com before hitting select retailers nationwide later this year. A Compartés representative told Food Network they expect the limited edition bars to last through the holidays.
