Two Girl Scout Cookies Are Being Discontinued Next Year, So Stock Up Now
Fans of these retiring flavors have one last season to grab a box (or ten).

If you don’t have a favorite Girl Scout Cookie, you either love all cookies (valid), or you’ve simply never had one. Despite similar items appearing on shelves or in various other food formats over the years (remember Thin Mints pita chips?), there’s nothing quite like the baked treats supplied by those adorable entrepreneurs in badge-covered sashes. The good news? Cookie season is officially starting to ramp up for 2025 — but that announcement comes with some sad news for fans of two flavors.

Which Girl Scout Cookies are being discontinued in 2026?
For the unfamiliar, the Girl Scout motto is “Be prepared,” while the Girl Scout Law also states that scouts should be “honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring” — so perhaps it’s in that spirit that the organization has also issued an advance notice that two of their cookies are being retired … next year.
Here are the cookies joining the ranks of other discontinued Girl Scouts cookies starting in 2026:
Girl Scout S’mores: Introduced in 2017, these sandwich cookies feature graham cookies on the outside and a filling of chocolate and marshmallow, mimicking the classic campfire treat. They were released to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts’ first cookie sales.
Toast-Yay!: These bread slice-shaped cookies first arrived in 2021 and are a crunchy take on the flavor of French toast with the bottoms dipped in sweet icing.

The loss of Toast-Yay! also means there’s one less vegan cookie option in the mix, however the three other vegan cookies — Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties and Lemonades — aren’t going anywhere.
Asked whether there were plans to replace Girl Scout S’mores and Toast Yay! in the lineup, a Girls Scouts USA representative said, “We routinely reevaluate our cookie lineup to make room for new innovations. Discontinuing Toast-Yay! and Girl Scout S’mores may lead to something new and delicious.” To that end, GSUSA also offers “Cookie Updates” via email or by texting “Cookies” to 59618.
In either cookie’s case, you still have this season to stock up your pantry (and freezer) for any cravings to come.
When is Girl Scout Cookie season in 2025?
Officially kicking off January 7, 2025, Girl Scout Cookie season occurs annually between January and April, however the timing may vary with troops in your local area. Check the GSUSA website for local availability, or you can shop online starting February 21, 2025.
Girls Scouts started selling cookies as far back as 1917 when they were home baked and sold by the dozen to raise funds for troop activities. The tradition has continued, although with homemade cookies being replaced by bakery-produced fan-favorites like Thin Mints, Trefoils, Tagalongs/Peanut Butter Patties and Caramel deLites/Samoas, to name a few. In addition to 100-percent of the profits staying with local councils and troops for community projects and donations, Girl Scouts says the act of selling cookies helps scouts develop skills in goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.
How To Buy Girl Scout Cookies in 2025
The best way to show your support for your local Girl Scouts is to buy from a local scout, either by asking for the sales link from Girl Scout that you know already or by using the Girl Scout Cookie Finder to locate a booth selling cookies in your area.
If you prefer to do all your shopping online, starting on Friday, February 21 the GSUSA website will offer the ability to purchase and ship directly (while still supporting a troop, of course).
